Vintage Pictorial Guide, Map/Brochure for Lexington & Concord, Birthplace of the:
$10.99
Includes an excellent pictorial guide for Lexington & Concord, two towns outside of Boston that were the scene of the first battle of the American Revolution, as well as being prominently featured in early American literature (Concord contains Ralph Waldo Emerson’s celebrated Walden Pond). Today, the neighboring communities are upscale suburbs of Boston, an old-money WASP redoubt 10 miles northwest of Beacon Hill and Boston Common.
The book is a wonderful 7.5 x 9.5, 95-page hardcover volume that features a history of the twin towns (wealthy enough to have done a good job of preserving their historic landmarks and giving the surrounding areas an appropriately stately, gracious and dignified look), as well as 32 “plates”, as the high-quality color photographs and descriptions of the various historic buildings and lands are called (from Hastings House, 1988); along with an official foldout map & tour brochure for Lexington & Concord, a six-panel glossy guide to the two communities (from the Greater Merrimack Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, circa 2020).
